The Audio of Relic: Birth, Breathe, Death
Dry ice, plaster
2021
Relic: Birth, Breathe, Death is a metaphor for civilization and life. Judith mixes foam with plaster. The bubbles burst during the solidification of the plaster. Eventually forms the layers of evidence of bubbles’ existence on the plaster surface. The crowdedness of the bubbles traces on the plaster and creates a unique landscape. Just like the relic that was left behind by a specie, after birth, breathing, and death.
Dead Language is an extension of the Relic series. Audio records the bubbles bursting when plaster solidifies. Those tiny little noises come from the moment of every bubble’s death. Each individual who makes this noise is the last user of this unique voice and this language.
